Drew School is an independent, urban high school in San Francisco enrolling 300 students in grades 9 through 12. Drew knows and believes in teenagers. Position Overview
Drew School seeks a part-time drama teacher for our three-week Summer 2026 session— Monday, June 15 through Thursday, July 2, with no class on Juneteenth (Friday, June 19) or Independence Day (Friday, July 3), for a total of 13 days of instruction. We seek a teacher who has experience directing live theatrical performances for middle or high school students already. We seek an educator who will be a collegial, collaborative, and supportive school community member.
This position requires the successful candidate to teach up to 20 rising 6th through 9th graders, 6 hours per day (9 a.m. to 3 : 45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break from 12-12 : 45 p.m). The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Summer Programs to design lesson plans and select or have the students write a one-act play appropriate for rising 6th through 9th grade students to act in and produce. This three-week workshop will culminate in a performance by the students in Drew’s state-of-the-art theater. The production itself has a budget of up to $1,000.
