At the Greater Sacramento Urban League (GSUL), we believe every young person deserves to feel seen, supported, and hopeful about their future. We are seeking a compassionate and engaged Youth Peer Support Specialist to join our allcove team - a safe, welcoming space where youth ages 12–25 can access mental health support, career and academic resources, and community connection.
In this role, you'll use your lived experience to inspire healing, resilience, and confidence. You'll be a relatable role model who empowers young people to build coping skills, self-advocate, and stay connected to support systems that uplift them.

What You'll Do
As a Youth Peer Support Specialist, every day brings opportunities to support growth and spark change :
⭐ Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based peer support through 1 : 1 and group interactions
⭐ Build meaningful, culturally responsive relationships based on trust and mutual respect
⭐ Support youth in navigating mental health, housing, employment, and education resources
⭐ Co-facilitate youth groups and wellness activities that foster empowerment and belonging
⭐ Advocate for youth needs during appointments, meetings, and with community partners
⭐ Collaborate closely with mental health clinicians and multidisciplinary team members
⭐ Maintain documentation and privacy standards using electronic health records (EHR)
⭐ Celebrate milestones and progress - big and small

What You Bring
We recognize that lived experience is an essential qualification for this role.
Required :
Peer Support Certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
Experience using lived experience to support others in recovery and resilience
Ability to connect authentically with diverse youth populations
Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based support practices
Strong communication, active listening, and rapport-building skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Preferred Skills :
Motivational interviewing and youth engagement strategies
Understanding of adolescent behavioral health
Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or community-building activities
Familiarity with social determinants of health and community-based supports
Previous work / volunteer experience in youth-serving or mental-health settings
