Description :

EEG Technologists perform EEGs and assist with the performance of EMGs, clinic visits, and other clinical aspects of the department.

Responsibilities include assisting with NCVs and other clinical tasks.

Demonstrates working knowledge of neurology and electroencephalography.

Explains testing procedures for the EEG to the patient and their family.

Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.

Makes appropriate adjustments to settings to obtain accurate results.

Obtains accurate and concise patient histories.

Prepares patients and equipment for requested examinations.

Performs EEGs according to standards, resulting in high-quality EEG exams.

Produces accurate and complete EEG reports with emphasis on clinical observations.

Recognizes, monitors, and eliminates artifacts.

Performs routine activation procedures such as hyperventilation.

Responds appropriately to patient emergencies.

Takes precautions to prevent patient infections.

Understands the effects that medications can have on EEGs.

Verifies MD orders by checking the written order and verifying patient ID.
