Position Summary
Can / Am is looking for a dedicated and thorough DevOps Engineer with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, maintaining cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and release processes.
Can / Am is embarking on continued growth and expansion of our client base, and this role will be critical in ensuring our infrastructure scales reliably and efficiently to meet increasing demand. You will be a key player in supporting our Product and Implementation teams, working alongside a committed group of professionals to deliver seamless deployments and maintain high-availability systems.
You will report to the Director of DevOps and Support.
Qualifications
The candidate should be a fast learner with an aptitude for understanding and maintaining complex systems.
3-5 years of hands-on DevOps experience with AWS cloud infrastructureStrong proficiency with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, and CloudFormation or TerraformExperience with CI / CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub ActionsWorking knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, ECS / EKS)Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code practicesStrong understanding of version control systems (Git) and branching strategiesExperience with configuration management and automation toolsKnowledge of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and security groupsUnderstanding of database administration and backup / recovery proceduresStrong problem-solving abilities with a focus on root cause analysisExcellent attention to detail and documentation practicesAbility to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersExperience with incident management and on-call responsibilitiesExperience supporting SaaS applications for government or regulated industriesKnowledge of security and compliance requirements for government clientsExperience with monitoring and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.)Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell)Coding language experience (.NET)Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development methodologiesAWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator preferred)Key Goals and Success Criteria
Establish and maintain reliable CI / CD pipelines with minimal deployment failuresOptimize AWS infrastructure for cost-effectiveness and scalabilityAchieve high system uptime through comprehensive monitoring and proactive maintenanceSupport Product and Implementation teams with efficient deployment processes and documentationImplement infrastructure-as-code practices for repeatable, auditable infrastructure managementMaintain security and compliance standards appropriate for government clientsDevelop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plansAutomate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errorsEstablish clear documentation for infrastructure, deployment procedures, and runbooksImplement and maintain backup strategies with regular testing of restoration proceduresReduce mean time to recovery (MTTR) for production incidents through effective monitoring and response proceduresFoster a culture of continuous improvement through post-incident reviews and iterative enhancementsWhat you will receive
