Staff Accountant

Great Western Dining Service (GWD) is excited to be adding a Staff Accountant to our growing team! This position will have a hand in all accounting functions with a primary focus on Accounts Payable, Bank Account Reconciliation, General Ledger, Sales / Use Tax, and Month-End Close. Problem-solving skills, process and procedure development, efficiency and accuracy, creativity, and a positive approach to all situations will be essential for success. GWD has implemented new accounting software in the last calendar year (NetSuite and Ramp), and there will be a continued focus on modernizing and streamlining workflow.

Because our Business Office team is split between Kansas City and Tipton (MO), this position will initially require travel up to two days per week to the Tipton office. Travel time will scale back as organizational and positional knowledge is gained.

Responsibilities :

• Accounting Operations – Sound GAAP knowledge, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliation, amortization and depreciation schedules, month-end and year-end close, year-end audit assistance
• Project Management – Prioritize and manage accounting services projects and timetables to effectively complete the highest leverage projects while managing day-to-day workflows.
• Standard Operating Procedures – Assist Controller with the development of thorough and comprehensive documented procedures for all accounting functions.
• Product Selection – Assist Controller with the review and selection of the most effective solutions to service the needs of the organization, considering user requirements, cost effectiveness, integration and long-term sustainability – Emphasis on Accounts Receivable.
• Employee Relations – Maintain a favorable employee relations climate for all co-workers by ensuring that an open line of communication exists for effective and timely workflow and problem resolution.
• Special Projects and Other – Perform all other related assignments as required, including special project assignments, in a professional manner.
