Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description

A hands-on learning experience for individuals who have completed a classroom based mechanical / welding training program. This program includes a combination of minimal classroom courses focused on Freeport-McMoRan policies and procedures and on-the-job training designed to develop selected candidates into highly skilled and professional trade employees. Successful candidates are responsible for hands-on learning and performing maintenance / welding / operations activities with minimal to moderate supervision, or supports journeymen in their maintenance activities.

• Perform basic mechanical / welding maintenance activities
• Perform safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stingertrucks and overhead and mobile cranes
• Perform work area and equipment safety inspections
• Attend required classroom training sessions as necessary
• Perform other duties as required

A structured mechanical / welding apprenticeship program

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently  $23.00 - $31.00 / hour.  This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
