Position Overview :

As an intern on our Highway Team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the planning and design of transportation projects. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects that impact communities, including two of the region’s most transformative initiatives : the I-81 Viaduct Project and the Onondaga County / Micron Transportation Improvements, projects that will redefine mobility and connectivity in Central New York.

Position Responsibilities :

• Assist in highway / roadway design using MicroStation / AutoCAD, following NYSDOT and AASHTO standards.
• Perform engineering calculations for alignments, grading, drainage, and other design elements.
• Support preparation of construction plans, technical details, and cost estimates.
• Contribute to traffic control plans, pavement markings, and signage layouts.
• Participate in design reviews and occasional field visits to observe existing conditions or assist with construction support.

Estimated Compensation Range : $20.00-$22.50 / hour
