Unit Overview :
Become part of our dynamic 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit! You will care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative patients following craniotomies, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients experiencing hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, alongside medical overflow cases.Join us at the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), where you will have the opportunity to engage in advanced neurosurgical techniques and provide cutting-edge care.

Assess patient needs, plan, and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.Recognize significant changes in patient conditions and adjust care plans accordingly.Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and engage patients and families in care readiness.Coordinate comprehensive discharge plans utilizing a collaborative interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate outcomes and lead initiatives focused on improving care processes and results.Exhibit effective communication and foster collaboration among healthcare team members.Promote a culture of safety and report events proactively.Engage in personal and team professional development through educational opportunities.Ensure knowledge and skills align with age-specific patient care requirements.Licensure and Experience Requirements :
Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.Completed accredited nursing program.Typically requires at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Skills and Abilities :
Competence in holistic patient care and addressing clinical situations from the patient and family perspective.Confidence in making timely decisions in response to changing clinical situations.Proficient with computers and electronic medical record systems.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with patients and teams.Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.Team-building and problem-solving skills.Physical and Environmental Requirements :
Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including lifting, walking, and maneuvering in various positions.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform specific clinical procedures safely.Exposure to hazardous materials and the need for protective equipment may be required.Effective communication abilities are essential.
