Job Description
Role Overview : The Medicaid Database Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on Medicaid-related healthcare data to support policy, operational decision-making, and program evaluation within the State of Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
What You Will Do :
- Analyze Medicaid claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Write complex SQL and SAS queries, and use Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
- Ensure all work complies with HIPAA regulations and state / federal data governance standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and leadership to define data needs and deliver analytics solutions.
- Support special projects, audits, and federal reporting initiatives, including CMS submissions and performance metrics.
What You Will Bring :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably with Medicaid or healthcare claims dataStrong hands-on experience with SQL and SAS (data querying, cleansing, and transformation)Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automationMinimum of 3 years of experience using Power BI or Tableau for building dashboards and reportsDeep understanding of Medicaid data, claims processing, eligibility, and encounter dataKnowledge of HIPAA regulations , data governance, and federal / state healthcare reporting standardsExcellent data storytelling and presentation skills (ability to translate analytics into actionable insights)Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science , or a related fieldExperience working with state or federal healthcare agencies (e.g., AHCA, CMS, Medicaid )Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills :
Experience with Medicaid Managed Care, LTSS , or Waiver ProgramsKnowledge of cloud platforms ( Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud ) for data storage / analyticsExposure to machine learning models or predictive analytics for forecasting and risk stratificationFamiliarity with federal reporting requirements (e.g., CMS submissions, performance metrics)
