About The Position

Job Title : RN - Emergency Department Profession : Registered Nurse Specialty : Emergency Department Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Shift Hours per Shift : 12 hours Experience : Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required License : RN License required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Description : The Emergency Department is seeking a Registered Nurse. The facility has 337 licensed beds. The Emergency Department does not have a trauma designation. This is not a teaching hospital. The facility is a certified chest pain center and a stroke center. Travelers must have a permanent address at least 50 miles away from their home unit. The unit consists of 43 beds, including 8 clinical decision beds for behavioral health. There are 4 additional beds for administrative use or holding patients from a freestanding emergency department. The average census is approximately 145 patients per day. Required patient ratios are 1 : 3-4, depending on acuity. Applicants must possess strong general Emergency Department skills. Skills should include cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with critical care drips. Additional skills in IV starts, TNK / TPA administration, and conscious sedation are necessary. Support staffing includes unit secretaries, paramedics, charge nurses, patient safety attendants, pharmacists, social workers, and respiratory therapists available 24 / 7. There will be a requirement to float to regional facilities as needed within the scope of practice. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. IV pumps used are Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed through Omnicell. Monitors utilized in the unit are from Philips. A welcoming and supportive culture is fostered in the department, which is frequently busy.
