Position Definition
To plan, coordinate, develop, implement and facilitate student support or instructional services for large – scale and complex program(s) in order to attract, retain and support a diverse population of students; and to provide technical program administration for all related activities. Distinguishing Characteristics Positions in this classification are responsible for the planning, organization and preparation of large, complex student support or instructional programs. Senior Program Coordinators are more involved in program planning and coordination involving two or more major programs. Examples of Duties / Essential Functions Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Minimum Qualification-Education / Experience EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Four (4) years of experience performing responsible student services duties in a related college program.
EDUCATION / LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or the equivalent. Minimum Qualification-Knowledge Of Current policies, procedures and regulations related to assigned student services program.
Modern office procedures, practices and technology / equipment.
General college classroom procedures and requirements.
General needs of population of students supported.
Philosophy and objectives of students services programs; problems encountered by students supported.
General principles and practices of supervision.
Basic interviewing and test proctoring techniques.
Modern software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.). Minimum Qualification-Skill To N / A Minimum Qualification-Ability To Design, develop, and implement effective student support services and programs to meet the needs of the community.
Understand and carry out verbal or written instructions in an independent manner.
Identify and obtain resources and other needed programs and services to meet students’ academic and vocational needs and objectives.
Assign work to, oversee, and train student assistants.
Gather, prepare and maintain accurate data, records, files and reports.
Analyze situations accurately and independently make sound decisions in procedural matters.
Serve as a liaison between students and community or college agencies and services.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise technical and statistical reports.
Function in a fast-paced environment with significant public contact.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of performing required duties.
Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, and religious background of all students, faculty and staff, and with all individuals encountered in the performance of required duties. Desirable Qualifications Preferred :
A master’s degree in education, educational psychology, or instructional psychology, or other master’s degree with emphasis in adult learning theory
Strong background in reading, writing, and tutoring pedagogy — ideally supported by an academic degree in English, Education, or a related field, and experience providing direct student support through tutoring, consulting, or instructional assistance.
Demonstrated experience in academic support or learning center coordination — including tutoring program management, staff and student supervision, and faculty collaboration to deliver effective academic services across multiple disciplines and campuses.Experience collaborating with faculty to deliver tutoring services

Deferred Compensation : The District offers two optional deferred compensation plans. Eligible employees have a choice of the 457, 403b plans and a selection of savings and investment options.
Leave Allowance : The District offers monthly eligible classified employees and managers / supervisors a generous vacation and sick leave benefits as well as 20 paid holidays annually (which can vary based on length of winter break).

Newly hired employees may notify the respective union (Local 1 or United Faculty) if they opt to join and / or authorize payment to the union. If the newly hired employee authorizes payment to the union then the following fees apply : Local 1 has a one-time initiation fee of $ and monthly contribution of 1% of gross pay +$1. United Faculty has an agency fee of .55% of gross pay plus $ (All confidential, supervisory and management positions are exempt from union membership)
