We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Ontario, California. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in construction accounting and a proven ability to manage financial operations effectively. The Controller will collaborate closely with leadership and project managers to ensure accurate billing, payroll, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee all aspects of billing processes and ensure accuracy in job costing and retention.
- Manage accounts receivable, including retention billing within the construction sector.
- Process weekly certified payroll functions in compliance with industry standards.
- Update and maintain proprietary Excel schedules related to financial tracking.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms to ensure proper financial oversight.
- Collaborate with project managers to address financial matters and support decision-making.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to guide organizational strategy.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end close procedures.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) reports to track project performance and profitability.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards within the construction industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial or accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in Sage software for financial management.
- Expertise in job costing and retention billing processes.
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll functions and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review financial statements accurately.
- Proven experience handling month-end close procedures.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with leadership and project teams.
