Primary Purpose
As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you will provide comprehensive nursing care for assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring that they receive the highest quality of care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Must be a graduate from an accredited vocational nursing program and / or hold a current LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact LVN License.
- Experience : None required.
- Certification / Registration / Licensure :
- Current, valid LVN license or temporary LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or a valid Compact LVN license.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Skills and Abilities :
- Deliver patient care in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act and established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Show a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Demonstrate appropriate nursing skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and prioritize medical issues to ensure timely and appropriate treatment as per physician orders.Assist in facilitating patient flow in clinical settings, including treatment and discharge processes.Stay informed about regulations and standards governing nursing processes to ensure compliance.Identify educational needs of patients and families, providing valuable information as needed.Assist in training new staff and students under the guidance of a supervisor.Document patient care accurately and in accordance with procedures.Collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive, patient-valued care.Ensure availability of necessary supplies for patient care.Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of patient areas and instruments.Propose improvements to enhance work processes and patient satisfaction.Stay updated on the latest nursing advancements by attending seminars and workshops.Assist in scheduling patient appointments and follow-up care.Help transport patients when needed.Parkland Health and Hospital System is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace.
