Description
Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
- Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
- Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
- Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
- Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
- May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- May serve as property custodian for the department.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Details:
The position will support the department in various academic and operational areas that impact student/faculty/alumni and marketing/communications including, but not limited to:
- E vents and Programs – organize events, workshops, presentations, and programs from start to finish. Some examples include career fairs, scholarships and awards, technical talks, information sessions, and undergraduate research programs.
- Marketing and Communications - manages social media content creation, deployment, and engagement; interviews, writes, edits, and disseminates news releases and other articles to highlight faculty, student, and alumni research and achievements, and department events and programs; develop graphic designs for electronic and print media.
- Student Engagement and Advising – assist with advising prospective and/or current students, maintain student files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary, process paperwork, assist with enrollment/registration, and analyze degrees plans and transcripts.
Qualifications
Bachelors and No experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: No experience required.
Additional Job Posting Information:
- While experience will be considered in lieu of education, candidates with a four-year degree is preferred.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in an academic environment, specifically with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or other ERP systems, such as Ellucian Banner.
- Experience or familiarity with graphic design software, such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or InDesign
- The ability to multitask and work with others
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, problem solving and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 software
