Job Description
JMA Solutions, a leading government contractor for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has a full-time opportunity for an Intermediate I Scientist / Engineer / Systems Analyst supporting engineering services for the FAA in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is responsible for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of NAS systems, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and industry standards. This role provides technical support for NAS facility modifications, engineering studies, and operational enhancements at both CONUS and non-CONUS locations.
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Design and develop software engineering code for the long-range radar Air Route Surveillance Radar (ARSR- 4) and Common Air Route Surveillance Radar (CARSR) systems. Radars are the primary sensor utilized for US Air Defense (DOD), Law Enforcement (DHS), and Air Traffic Management (FAA)
- Create, support, test, validate, and verify software modifications to ARSR-4 and CARSR systems to ensure the systems are functioning as required and to improve the system operations
- Identify and resolve software problems as they arise
- Determine opportunities to improve efficiency and stability in data processing and workflow
- Work with other teams to ensure software and hardware systems are designed to support organizational goals
- Develop status report, procedures and site documentation for Technical Instruction (TI) books for software modifications or new software
- Create advanced algorithms and automation scripts that are deployed as mission critical software to ARSR-4 and CARSR systems
- Stay up to date on industry trends and technologies in order to ensure the organization is taking advantage of the most current technology
- Work within the Agile software development environment with Atlassian toolsets
Job Requirements
Applicable skills include using C / C++ programming languages with demonstrated examples of code written in a software engineering capacityStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsWorking knowledge of producing software code that interfaces directly with the hardware. Examples include the application of specialty Application Programming Interfaces (API), hardware device drivers, writing bash scripts, working with embedded systems, or other low-level interface code implemented in order to provide command, control, and status of hardware systemsMust be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Create containers to configure automation scripts that work on Linux-based operating systemsThe preferred candidate will be detail-oriented, highly self-motivated, and a proactive team playerSome travel may be requiredDESIRED SKILLS :
Familiarity with assembly language on any processorKnowledge of cybersecurity practices to harden Linux and / or Microsoft platformsFamiliarity with Lean Agile developmentFamiliarity with RHEL 9Machine LearningEDUCATION : Must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering degree such as EE, ME, CE with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
