Structural Engineer – P.E.

Position Summary
ATS is seeking a Structural Engineer – P.E. to join our Austin-based Structural Engineering team. This role will focus on the design, analysis, and delivery of light commercial and high-end custom residential structures , supporting projects from concept through construction administration.
The ideal candidate is a licensed professional engineer who demonstrates sound engineering judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, clients, and internal project teams. This position does not require business development responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for commercial and residential projects
- Develop gravity and lateral framing layouts and supporting calculations
- Design structures using steel, wood, and concrete systems, including foundations and podium structures
- Prepare and review construction documents and technical calculations
- Support construction administration activities, including submittal and RFI review
- Collaborate with architects to develop practical, constructible design solutions
- Communicate design intent and assumptions clearly to internal and external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with in-office and remote engineering team members
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasisMinimum of 5 years of experience in the design of building structuresProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain Texas licensure within three (3) monthsExperience designing gravity and lateral structural systemsProficiency with structural analysis and calculation tools (e.g., RISA, Enercalc, Excel, or similar)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environmentAbility to work primarily in-office in a hybrid settingPreferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Structural or Civil EngineeringPassed S.E. examinationProject management experienceExperience with high-end custom residential or architecturally complex projectsExperience with forensic or field-based structural workFamiliarity with wood-frame, steel-frame, and concrete structural systemsWork Environment & Physical Requirements
Hybrid work environment based out of the Austin, TX officeAbility to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periodsOccasional site visits may be required, including navigating construction environmentsCompensation & Benefits
