In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced safety programs within the organization. You will lead complex risk assessments, offer expert guidance on regulatory compliance, design comprehensive safety training programs, and conduct thorough investigations into safety incidents. Your strategic planning skills will be crucial in promoting a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities - Lead complex risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance and updates, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Design and implement comprehensive safety training programs tailored to various levels of the organization.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions.
- Conduct and lead safety audits and inspections, ensuring thorough evaluation of safety protocols and practices.
- Develop and implement strategic safety initiatives to enhance overall safety performance and culture.
- Promote and enhance a proactive safety culture within the organization through continuous improvement and engagement.
- Utilize advanced data analytics to drive safety improvements, identify trends, and support decision-making processes.
- Effectively communicate safety policies, procedures, and best practices to employees and management.
- Collect and report hazardous materials-related data to state and federal regulators.
- Collect and report safety and environmental data to MBAG.
- Maintain and update site-specific emergency response action plans and procedures.
- Provide SHE technical support for site-specific initiatives and projects.
- Safety and environmental compliance/project duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences or Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial operations with involvement in SHE programs.
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations, standards, and programs (OSHA, EPA, IIPP, SPCC, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
- Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and plan daily work in an unstructured work environment.
- Able to work in both corporate office and field environment.
- Respond as needed for emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications - Advanced safety certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or similar.
- Prior experience in management systems such as VPP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS 18001 ISO 45001.
