Senior Accountant - Public Sector

A well-regarded public service agency is seeking a knowledgeable Senior Accountant to provide oversight across diverse financial activities, including general ledger oversight, payroll review, financial reporting, budgeting, and year-end procedures. This position is perfect for a meticulous accounting professional who thrives in a purpose-driven organization and enjoys contributing to the success of a collaborative team.

In this role, you will guide and authorize a wide array of accounting functions, working in close partnership with Finance and Human Resources. The right candidate will bring proven experience in fund / governmental accounting, payroll processes, financial reconciliations, and managing the financial operations of multiple entities.

Primary Duties :

• Review and approve work completed by Accounting Specialists, including :
• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable batches
• Manual batches and journal entries
• Cash receipts and monthly credit card activity
• Monthly excise tax filings
• Complete monthly cash reconciliations and support timely month-end close.
• Serve as back-up reviewer for Accounting Assistant tasks and Board-related reports.
• Provide payroll support twice monthly :
• Payroll review and meetings with Finance & HR
• PERS analysis and reporting
• Support annual budget development and upload.
• Lead year-end close activities :
• Close-and-roll for multiple entities
• Prepare or review annual financial statements
• Support W-2 and 1099 filing processes

Qualifications :

$80,000 - $90,000
