As a Certified Patient Care Assistant for our PreOp PACU team, you are involved first-hand in providing care that improves patient outcomes and experience while also providing a greater learning opportunity. You will be assigned to the Pre OP PACU unit, where you will have the opportunity to help patients both before and after surgeries. Teamwork is strong in this department and support to be your best self is great. Staff truly grow in Preop PACU Unit, with many PCAs becoming RNs within the department due to the support we provide while in school. The Phoenix campus, long known for excellent patient care, has over 730 licensed beds, several unique specialty units and is the new home for medical discoveries, thanks to our collaboration with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. Additionally, the campus responsibilities include fully integrated multi-specialty and sub-specialty clinics.
Position Summary
This incumbent provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records. The position also performs a variety of support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit / department.

Physical Demands / Environment Factors
DP - Typical Direct Patient Care environment : (Nutrition Rep, Chaplain, RN) Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs. Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision. Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects. Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone. May require periodic use of personal computer.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma / GED or equivalent working knowledge. Current BLS certification is required. Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills are required. In California : advanced skills are excluded. BSS team members must have 12 months Banner experience in the role. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent healthcare experience preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Additional related education and / or experience preferred.
