    • Job Summary

    The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include documenting treatment details, assisting with pre- and post-dialysis assessments, monitoring dialysis treatments, and responding to patient condition changes. The PCT supports emergency protocols, including initiating CPR during cardiac / pulmonary arrest , and ensures compliance with facility and safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care during dialysis treatments under RN supervision
  • Accurately document treatment parameters on Dialysis Flow Sheets
  • Assist licensed nurses with patient assessments and documentation
  • Monitor patient condition and report significant changes to supervisors
  • Respond to emergencies, including initiating CPR when needed
  • Assist with operational and safety procedures during emergency situations

    • Required Experience

  • Prior patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare setting preferred (not required)
  • Successful completion of a hemodialysis training course (theory and practice)
  • Current CPR certification

    • Required Education

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Training in physical sciences or laboratory techniques preferred

    • Required Skills

  • Patient monitoring and documentation
  • Basic clinical support for dialysis treatment
  • Emergency response (including CPR)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

    • Preferred Skills

  • Hemodialysis treatment familiarity
  • Healthcare setting experience

    • Additional Skills

  • Attention to detail in documenting patient treatment
  • Adaptability to high-demand healthcare environments
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nurses and care staff
