Mechanical Design Engineer Future Opportunity

Primary Function of Position :

Intuitive Surgical designs and manufactures highly complex mechanical systems (including instruments and accessories) for use in robotic-assisted surgery.  A successful candidate will have strong technical depth in key areas for mechanical design the ability to interpret data and the energy to support simultaneous projects. The candidate will also technically manage projects across cross-functional groups and vendors.  A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Design develop and document components and assemblies for robotic laparoscopic stapler instruments and reloads
• Utilize engineering fundamentals to analyze a problem brainstorm potential solutions and conduct empirical confirmation of designs.
• Understand root cause analysis investigations as the subject matter expert and align cross-functional team on path forward
• Develop testing fixtures to perform verification and validation testing of a production-level components and products.
• Participate in clinical lab testing to understand products performance; implement clinical feedback into products requirements and design.
• Investigate and establish root cause of both latent and emerging design manufacturing or material defects.
• Assess field reliability data to evaluate and improve existing product designs.
• Provide mechanical engineering sustaining support for resolution of manufacturing and field issues.
• Review regulatory standards changes and evaluate impact to product.
• Perform technical design reviews to solicit feedback on design progress.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages inclusive of base pay incentives benefits and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role as actual pay will be determined based on several factors including experience skills and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
