GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
This part time position supports the missions and operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. The Range and Target Activities Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the operation, training, and safety of the shooting sports program at the IROEC. This includes facility and equipment support for IROECs archery, BB, slingshot, and tomahawk ranges.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age requirement is 18
Maintain certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED within three (3) months of hiring
Highly desired : Hold or be able to attain a certification relevant to range activities, such as USA Archery Level 1 or 2, NRA Rifle Instructor, and / or NRA Range Safety Officer
JOB DUTIES
Responsible for assisting the Range and Target Activities Area Director in range operation, staff trainings, equipment inventory and maintenance, and range facility upkeep
Demonstrate proficient knowledge and implementation of mandated range safety standards and regulations in accordance with USA Archery, National Rifle Association, Scouting America National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), American Camp Association (ACA), and best industry practices.
Must be able to maintain physical abilities to uphold certifications and act quickly in emergencies.
Deliver high quality programming, personify professionalism, and exhibit excellent customer service to all staff and guests of the IROEC.
Assist in overall administration and facilitation of programs as needed.
Complete regular inspections and maintenance of program equipment and facilities.
Delivery of timely and professional feedback about inventory, personnel and program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Support the overall operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council.
