Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : PCU Float Pool Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12 hours Hours per Shift : 7 PM - 7 AM Experience : 1-2 years License : Active RN license Certifications : BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have : - Proficiency with neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips - Experience with cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin drips - EPIC experience - Ability to read and interpret ECG strips Description : Will be required to float to all PCU and Telemetry units. Floating to other units to care will be within or below scope of practice. Expected to care for patients in varied clinical settings. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, abdominal pain, post-surgical recovery, altered mental status, dehydration, acute kidney injury, congestive heart failure, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, numbness, fever, sepsis, and respiratory failure. Nurse-to-patient ratios : - PCU : 1 : 4, may go to 5 - Medical / Surgical : 1 : 5, may go to 1 : 6 (rarely) Required to titrate drips when necessary. Must be familiar with equipment such as CPAP and high flow oxygen. Need to read, interpret, and perform EKGs and report any changes to the attending physician. Nursing staff will be expected to be flexible in meeting the needs of the unit. There is a minimum requirement to work four weekend shifts in a six-week period. Holiday staffing will be contingent on the needs of the unit. Scrubs must be navy blue. Nurses will float between various units as needed.
