About The Position

Are you an experienced Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner looking for a flexible PRN locums role in a supportive rural setting? This opportunity offers consistent shift availability, low patient volume, and a strong team environment.

⭐ Position Overview

Role : Locum NP – Emergency Medicine

Location : Elkader, IA

Shift Type : Days / Nights (multiple 24–48 hr blocks available)

Providers Needed : 1

Start / End : Ongoing PRN coverage

EMR : EPIC

📅 Coverage Dates Available

Extensive shift options from December 2025 through May 2026 , including holiday and weekend blocks.

🏥 Responsibilities

Function as the sole provider covering both Emergency Department and Med / Surg

Inpatient responsibilities required

No telehealth, no outreach

Support team includes :

2 RNs

1 Paramedic

Occasional CNA / NPN help

Patient Volume :

ER average : 3.6 patients / day

Med / Surg census : ~1.4 patients / day

Procedures : Emergency care, inpatient care, skilled care

Temp privileges available (no emergency privileges)
