We are seeking an expert-level Network Engineer - Project Lead to join the Technology Services division of a major government services agency. This is a mission-critical role focused on the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of a robust, statewide network infrastructure that supports vital public-facing services.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who can take the lead on complex network solutions, ensuring a stable and consistent architecture that can serve and secure critical programs.
Key Responsibilities (Daily Duties)
- Network Operations : Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a statewide network ( WAN, LAN, and Wireless ), primarily utilizing CISCO and Meraki technologies.
- System Configuration : Configure, maintain, and patch enterprise-grade CISCO Firewalls (ASA, FirePower series) and Switches (3750, C9500, Nexus series).
- Project Leadership : Work closely with Technology Services architects, application teams, and security teams to design and implement secure network architectures.
- Remote Support : Conduct advanced remote troubleshooting and provide technical guidance to the Agency’s partners and county IT teams.
- Security Focus : Implement and enforce network security measures, ensuring a secure infrastructure to support highly sensitive, mission-critical systems.
Required Qualifications (4-6 Years Experience)
Candidates must possess expert-level, hands-on experience in the following areas :
Cisco Expertise : Hands-on experience with Cisco Firewalls, Routers, and Switches .Cisco Certifications : Strong experience equivalent to or possessing Cisco CCNA and Cisco CCNP .Network Diagnostics : Extensive experience with network troubleshooting and packet analysis using tools like Wireshark .Communication : Proven ability to clearly communicate complex network designs and implementation decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred Skills & Technologies
Experience with Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) and Cisco VPN .5+ years of experience in the design and operations of public and / or private networks, including LAN / MAN / WAN .Familiarity with the design, placement, and specifications of servers, routers, firewalls, and remote access systems.Experience supporting Microsoft network communications , including knowledge of planning and maintaining hybrid networking and connectivity to Azure services (e.g., former MCSE).Tools : Direct experience with Cisco FMC, ASDM, ISE, Putty, PowerShell, Nmap, and SIEM solutions.
