Location: Phoenix, AZ

Compensation: Up to $200K (base + bonus)

The Kostelic Agency is exclusively partnered with a private equity–backed transportation & logistics company to hire a Corporate Controller as the organization enters its most active phase of acquisition-driven growth. The company is currently executing 5–6 acquisitions per year and has already completed multiple successful integrations, creating a dynamic environment where accounting leadership plays a critical role in scaling the platform efficiently and sustainably.

With approximately $150M in FY2024 revenue and a clear roadmap to grow toward $500M by ~2031, this role is ideal for a high-caliber Controller who wants hands-on exposure to frequent M&A activity, increasing complexity, and enterprise-level decision-making. It’s a standout opportunity for an up-and-coming leader who wants meaningful responsibility, visibility with executive leadership, and long-term development within a PE-backed environment—without needing to have “seen it all” already.

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for:

• Public accounting Managers ready to make the jump into industry, or
• Controllers / Assistant Controllers with a blend of public + industry experience who want broader ownership and exposure to M&A and scaling operations.

The Role

This is a hands-on, high-impact Corporate Controller role focused on building scalable accounting infrastructure while partnering closely with the CFO and operations leaders. You’ll oversee core accounting functions, support ongoing acquisitions, and help professionalize processes as the organization continues to grow.

You’ll work with and lead a team of four regional controllers, providing guidance, structure, and accountability—without being buried in day-to-day transactional work.

Key Responsibilities

• Own corporate accounting operations including month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, and cash management (U.S. GAAP)
• Support acquisition activity including revenue recognition, purchase accounting, and integration of newly acquired entities
• Lead and develop regional controllers across multiple locations, driving consistency and scalability
• Partner with the CFO and operations team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Improve systems, controls, and processes to support rapid growth and audit readiness
• Play a key role in data room preparation and PE reporting requirements

Ideal Background

• CPA preferred
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong preference for public accounting foundation (Big 4 or large regional), ideally at the Manager level or higher
• Exposure to multi-entity environments, acquisitions, or PE-backed companies is a plus
• Confident communicator with the ability to lead teams and work cross-functionally
• Systems-savvy mindset; ERP experience helpful (training provided where needed)
