Accounting Operations & Bookkeeping Manager

Remote

$110,000 - $200,000+ (DOE)

About the Role :

Fast-growing accounting and consulting firm seeks a leader for a remote accounting operations team. You'll oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, monthly financial reporting, workflow management (AP, AR, accruals, prepaids), and audit readiness across a multi-client portfolio. The role includes coaching staff, ensuring accurate closes, and delivering review-ready financials, with opportunities for growth, bonus, and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 8-10 accountants / bookkeepers across multiple locations.
  • Oversee monthly close, AP / AR, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and financial reporting for a multi-client portfolio.
  • Manage workflow using Keeper or similar tools; ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
  • Act as primary client contact, resolving issues and maintaining strong communication.
  • Review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules before release.
  • Support audit preparation and coordinate PBC lists.
  • Identify process improvements and implement standardization and automation.
  • Oversee staffing, capacity planning, cross-training, and hiring needs as the team grows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience; outsourced accounting or multi-client experience preferred.
  • 2+ years supervising or managing accounting teams.
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial review.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and cloud accounting tools; Keeper experience a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple clients.
  • Audit support experience is a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
