Job Description : Facilities Management, Polytechnic campus, seeks a motivated full time HVAC Refrigeration Technician to join our team to maintain and repair HVAC equipment within the Residential Facilities. This position is located in Facilities Management on the Polytechnic campus however may require working at other ASU locations based on operational need. Minimum Qualifications HVAC Technician I 0-2 years HVAC or facilities experience High school diploma Must obtain CFC certification within 6 months Valid Arizona driver’s license HVAC Technician II 3–6 years of HVAC experience EPA Universal CFC Certification Associate degree or equivalent technical experience toward the required experience Valid Arizona driver's license Essential Duties : HVAC Technician I Perform preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter and belt replacement) Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs Interpret HVAC schematics and wiring diagrams Document work performed and ensure compliance with safety procedures Support on-call duties and emergency response Work under the guidance of senior staff HVAC Technician I Perform repairs on chillers, boilers, air handlers, compressors, and controls Conduct preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, and performance tests Support on-call duties and emergency response Train and mentor junior technicians as needed Maintain accurate service logs and reports DAYS AND SCHEDULE Monday – Friday, 8 : 00am – 4 : 30 pm These positions are based on the Polytechnic campus and may require working from other campuses depending on operational needs. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona Desired Qualifications : HVAC Technician I Basic HVAC knowledge : air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems, DX units Competency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment Ability to work safely with refrigerants and tools HVAC Technician II Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and as-builts Proficiency in troubleshooting and using digital instrumentation Familiarity with chilled water systems, DX equipment, and airflow mechanics Working Environment : Utilize power tools (e.g. drills, generators, saws, lifts, vacuum equipment). Climb ladders, ladder wells, and stairs. Work off ladders using hand tools and power tools to include working off lift platforms and boom trucks at heights above six feet. Use lifting, moving, and rigging equipment to safely move, transfer, or relocate heavy equipment. Operate refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines. Handle CFC refrigerant. Work in adverse working conditions such as confined spaces (e.g. tunnels, man holes, vaults), dirty areas, low lighting, and extreme temperatures. Stoop, bend, and reach.
