Position : Program Assistant
Department : Philadelphia Citadel Corps
Availability of Position : Program Assistant
Schedule : Monday 9 : 00am–5 : 00pm, Tuesday and Thursday 10 : 30am–8 : 30pm, Friday 9 : 00am–5 : 00pm, Sunday 8 : 30am–12 : 30pm. Saturdays are sometimes required.
Reporting Relationship : Corps Officers
Salary and Grade : $17.00 / hour

Responsibilities
Description of Position : The Program Assistant works under the direction of the Corps Officers and provides support for all aspects of the Philadelphia Citadel Corps Ministry, including program development, maintenance, supervision, property management, and evangelistic outreach.
Duties : Social Program
Clean and prepare the Senior Room.Prepare and serve snacks.Cooperate with guest speakers or program leaders.Operate the AV system for presentations and events.Purchase items and snacks with Corps Officers’ approval.Lead programs when necessary.After each program, organize, clean, and sanitize the room for the next use.Corps Program
Be present at all Corps programs (., Bible Study, Prayer Walk, Music Program, Teen Night, Women’sMinistries, and Men’s Fellowship Meetings).
Clean and prepare each room before starting.Prepare and serve snacks.Operate AV systems.Cooperate with program leaders and lead the program if necessary.Provide transportation upon the Corps Officers’ request.Food Pantry
Maintain and update the food pantry inventory.Keep the pantry orderly and stocked appropriately.Maintain a clean environment in and around the pantry.Develop and expand relationships with community and government agencies, as directed by the CorpsOfficers.
Summer Camp
Serve as the point person for The Salvation Army’s children’s summer camping program, includingenrolling applicants, tracking records, and maintaining files through “Camp Minder” in a timely manner.
Provide supervision for the Senior Citizens Program.Provide transportation to and from summer camp using a 12-passenger van.Seasonal Ministry
In collaboration with the Ministry Assistant, plan all aspects of the Christmas Toy Ministry.Work with the Greater Philadelphia Operations Manager to ensure an adequate supply of toys and Thanksgiving food distribution items.Organize and plan both the application and distribution process for the Christmas Toy Program.Provide directions and work with volunteers.Serve as Kettle Coordinator for The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, including :Creating weekly schedules for kettle workersProviding transportation with Salvation Army vehiclesPicking up kettles and counting money dailyProviding guidance and support to kettle workersThe Salvation Army Events
Be present at all official Salvation Army events, such as Divisional / Territorial Star Search, Youth Rally, Youth Councils, Soldiers’ Summit, and Family Camp.Provide transportation for these events.Other
Assist Corps Officers with correspondence, phone calls, Sunday service preparation, and event planning.Plan, help, and lead social and spiritual development programs as directed.Recruit and oversee volunteers.Engage with participants during programs to provide a safe and enriching environment.Observe The Salvation Army’s confidentiality policies.Participate in staff meetings.Uphold the mission and vision of The Salvation Army.Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.
Qualifications
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus.An understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of the Bible.Ability to work on Saturdays.A valid driver’s license, the ability to drive a 12-passenger van, and completion of The Salvation Army van driver certification course.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new softwareapplications.
A passion for outreach to the unchurched and sensitivity to those in disadvantaged circumstances.Ability to manage, plan, organize, and implement creative, high-quality programs for children and adults.Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of completion of training on recognizing and reporting child abuse that meets the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014, within 30 days of employment (recurrent training required every five years thereafter).Must meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including :PA Child Abuse History ClearancePA State Police Criminal Record CheckFBI Criminal Record / Fingerprint Check (with renewals every five years)Must possess an appreciation for and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
