POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE : Custodian

LOCATION : CCA, All Campuses

STATUS : FT, Hourly Non Exempt

Purpose Statement :

The Custodian is responsible for all aspects of cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of the church buildings in ways that would be pleasing and glorifying to God.

Scope :

This position is responsible for the actual physical cleaning of the church buildings on a recurring basis. The Custodian learns a variety of cleaning skills and is flexible and willing to serve in the needed capacity for that day. Custodial tasks include mopping and cleaning tile floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting, wiping walls and fixtures, sanitizing toilets and sinks, cleaning glass and mirror surfaces, and emptying and disposing of trash.

This person works with staff, temporary employees, volunteers, and community service workers to accomplish the cleaning work. The Custodian utilizes the necessary materials and equipment needed to perform cleaning tasks.

Specific Responsibilities :

• Participates in all tasks related to cleaning the buildings including bathrooms, floors, glass, removing waste, stocking paper and soap products, and similar activities.
• Utilizes various tools, equipment, and chemicals in order to complete the work.
• Receives work assignments from the Custodial Supervisor and / or Lead Custodian. Carries out the assigned task(s) and reports back to their overseer for the next assignment.
• Works alongside temporary employees, volunteers, and community service workers to help accomplish the assigned work. Provides assistance and encouragement to team members wherever possible.
• Assists with stocking and loading paper products, hand soap dispensers, cleaning chemicals, and similar items.
• Assists with service and care of equipment used in the cleaning of the buildings. Helps to assure that used items are cleaned and properly stored after each use.
• Occasionally assists with set-up of church events or as needed in other areas.
