VEA Connect are actively seeking a motivated Fiber Optic Assistant / Field Technician to support our Fiber Optic Field Supervisors on large-scale backhaul, long-haul, and FTTH builds. This is a fully field-based role, perfect for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in fiber splicing, testing, and network installation while working directly on job sites. You’ll assist in all field operations, follow safety standards, and help ensure projects meet technical specifications and client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with fiber optic splicing and termination (single-mode, ribbon, high-count fiber).
Support OTDR, OLTS, and IOLM testing and record results for documentation.
Prepare and maintain fiber documentation, logs, and as-builts.
Help supervisors and crews ensure quality, safety, and project compliance.
Assist with equipment setup, cable handling, and job site organization.
Participate in training and mentorship opportunities to grow technical skills.
1–3 years of hands-on field experience in fiber optic work, telecommunications, or a related technical field.
Basic understanding of fiber types, splicing, and testing tools preferred.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Willingness to work outdoors and follow safety protocols at all times.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Able to travel to and work at multiple field sites as needed.
