Lead Java Developer

Our client, a leading global financial services company, has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 140 countries. They provide consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management.

Day of interviewing Wed and Thursday 10.18 and 10.19- there will be 2 rounds so those moving forward will be early the following week.

BUSINESS OVERVIEW :

The Information Services is responsible for providing authoritative sources of reference data to our clients across Major Global Bank's Markets, Services, Banking, Personal Banking and Global Wealth businesses. Information Services implements state of the art technologies and operational processes which promote the collection, storage, analysis, and distribution of product, pricing, account, corporate action, financial, documents, calendar / holiday data. The organization has a very diverse portfolio of clients and works in partnership with them to deploy solutions to increase their competitiveness, through restructuring business processes, simplifying information access, and providing business intelligence around critical data.

The Price and Calendar technology team will be responsible for building the next generation holiday data platform supporting the bank's books and records and over 300 downstream consumers within the Major Global Bank's . This involves end to end responsibilities from data modeling, application design, data integration / analysis and working with the business partners and vendor data feeds for implementation. Product, Price, and Calendar reference data is critical to the bank and must be available, accurate, and complete for global financial markets and the bank's regulatory commitments.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

The Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Required skills :

Experience with the following technologies :

Strong hold on Java (Core, JDBC, MT, Collections, I / O), Spring Boot, Akka

Good to have exposure on functional programming based on Scala.

Exposure to Oracle DB and extensive knowledge on SQL / PL-SQL, query tuning, sharing best practices.

Experience on designing and developing data intensive application with low latency response.

Knowledge of Tomcat or Weblogic application server

REST web services

Experience working with a NoSQL database, preferably Mongodb & Redis

Sound knowledge on microservice architecture & container environment

Physical and logical data modeling

Experience using the following – JIRA, uDeploy, Sonarqube, TeamCity, Artifactory, Git (BitBucket), K8s, Openshift

Unix commands and Korn shell scripting.

Familiarity with standard data structures and algorithms.

Logical thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills; innovative and solutions oriented

Responsibilities :

Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.

Resolve variety of high impact problems / projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards

Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.

Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.

Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.

Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.

Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Major Global Bank's , its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications :

6-10 years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role

Extensive experience system analysis and in programming of software applications

Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development

Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Education :

Bachelor's degree / University degree or equivalent experience

Master's degree preferred.
