A Financial Planning Analyst (FP&A Analyst) analyzes financial data, creates budgets and forecasts, develops financial models, and prepares reports to help businesses and individuals make informed decisions, focusing on budgeting, variance analysis, trend identification, and strategic recommendations for growth and efficiency. They work with cross-functional teams to align financial plans with overall company goals, monitoring performance and identifying risks or opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Forecasting :
Analyze actuals to budgets, periodic re-forecasts, and long-term financial plans, using historical data and market trends.
Financial Modeling :
Build and maintain complex models for scenario planning and strategic initiatives. Tracking LTV by state working with Underwriting, Marketing and Pricing actuaries.
Performance Analysis :
Monitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget / forecast), and explain discrepancies.
Reporting :
Prepare detailed reports (P&L, cash flow, KPIs) for management and executives, highlighting key insights.
Strategic Support :
Provide data and analysis to support business cases, M&A, and strategic decision-making.
Collaboration :
Partner with department heads and business leaders to understand financial needs and ensure alignment.
