Now hiring for an Engineering Manager at our MSA Safety Globe Manufacturing manufacturing plant in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. In this role, you will be counted on for the following :
- Optimum utilization of existing resources (man, machine, material & method).
- Managing production : ensuring production in different processes & units.
- Monitoring the rate of production to meet the customer demand. Guide, instruct & follow up to achieve the daily, monthly, yearly target & companys goal.
- Style study (Artwork analysis) of every style at the developing stage & guidance to subordinates for preparing the operation bulletin & costing SMV.
- Do the Method study and work-study on the factory floor.
- Facilitate SMED / QCO technique implementation : Next style availability checks before two days, Pre-setting & Pre-training before one day, Skill allocation with standard method, Monitoring layout time & 1st 30 hours production.
- KPI setting & Monthly KPI analysis in the presence of all stakeholders.
- Providing guidance to subordinates to ensure that they understand their responsibilities and perform their jobs effectively.
- Providing guidance to the IE officer and the Floor In-charge for line balancing, effective line layout & method study.
- Planning & controlling to meet the customers required cost, quality & delivery.
- Coordinate multi-skilled (Up-skilling) operator.
- Update & maintain SMV bank and skill-matrix.
- Coordinate LPI (Low Performance Improvement) for improving a low-skilled operator to a high-skilled operator.
- Prepare sewing thread & accessories consumption for costing & booking for bulk production.
- IE Report prepares analysis, record keeping, and sends it to the senior.
Qualifications
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required :
Train and follow up on all IEs (Industrial Engineers) to implement the IE culture in the organization.Ability to travel 20-25% to other sites.Identify & solve the bottleneck of the process, and for continuous improvement.Train and achieve operational target by operating and guiding all Production Managers (overall operating more than 1400 people, out of which 3555 will be direct carders).Check the capability of the style during the order inquiry stage, as well as SMVs.Analyze current processes and the development of future processes to eliminate waste, non-value added procedures and minimize variation. Develop and justify cost-saving projects.Establishing workers and staff recruitment standards and policy, evaluating staff performance, and training needs.Create and evaluate a skill matrix of existing operators and evaluation for new work and train production personnel to establish best practices and methods to support continuous improvement and increase factory productivity & efficiency.Improving productivity through engineering process standards : Time and motion studies and workflow analysis, process re-engineering, workplace layout, visual work instruction preparation & standard system development.Lead effort to implement the principles of lean manufacturing & waste reduction by implementing Lean Manufacturing Concept.Teach & Monitor Quick Change Over (QCO) of the line, system development of the factory, and visualization.Maintain Continuous Improvement (KAIZEN) philosophy.Control overtime, manpower to reduce cost by using the latest attachments with machines.A helper to the Operator training procedure & skill development program of operators.Daily line-wise production target setup & on-time production & efficiency monitoring & take necessary action for achievement.Prepare daily, weekly & monthly line-wise & floor-wise efficiency & non-productive time (NPT) report.Prepare a KPI report of the factory, and work for improvement.Communicate with Top management for implementing the new concept.Analyzing, proposing and managing project resources and budgets.Planning strategies for keeping projects on-schedule and on-budget.Collaborating with other team members, managers, stakeholders and contractors.Delegating and supervising tasks and deliverables.Evaluating team members performance.Hiring and employee development.Providing input when faced with challenges.Creating technical documentation and project roadmaps.Leading daily standup meetings.Keeping the team on track.Preparing for and running one-on-one meetings with team members.Project management.Administrative duties (such as tracking performance metrics, preparing reports and performance reviews and improving processes).Attending stakeholder meetings.Education / Experience Required :
This position is available at two different career levels based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education :
Bachelors degree in Engineering, technical or relevant discipline, preferably from an ABET-Accredited college or university.
Level one : At least 8 years relevant experience.Level two : At least 10 years relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years experience in direct staff management.MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience; PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years.
