About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator to take ownership of our company's IT infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across all systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and takes pride in keeping mission-critical systems running smoothly.
As a senior member of the IT team, you'll manage servers, cloud environments, and network infrastructure - while leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, uptime, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux servers , both on-premises and in cloud environments (AWS).
- Manage Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, and identity management tools.
- Oversee system performance monitoring, patch management, and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience with Gluster and Ceph (SANs) .
- Implement and maintain virtualized environments (VMware).
- On-call every 3 rd weekend or so depending on availability.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and system performance issues across multiple locations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and security controls.
- Research and implement automation, monitoring, and optimization tools to improve IT efficiency.
- Support end-user escalations and provide Tier 3 technical support when needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience is preferred.7-10+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer.Strong background with Linux (RHEL / Ubuntu) and scripting .Experience with AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.Proficiency in networking fundamentals (TCP / IP, VPNs, VLANs, routing, and firewalls).Knowledge of VMware and backup / replication technologies (Veeam, Datto, or similar).Knowledge of server builds, though that is a rare duty.Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards (SOC2, ISO 27001, or NIST).Excellent communication skills with the ability to wear all hats on a smaller team.
