The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. We partner with volunteers to accomplish our work. Staff members engage volunteers through effective and timely communications, facilitating meaningful opportunities, and continually seeking and providing feedback for reciprocal growth and learning.

Job Summary :

The Regional Manager, Mission Volunteer Engagement , is responsible for recruiting, cultivating, and supporting mission volunteers within Southwest region. This role ensures volunteers are effectively matched to roles, trained, and equipped to deliver impactful mission activities in their communities. The Manager fosters relationships with volunteers, amplifies their contributions, and works collaboratively with colleagues to expand the reach of mission programs.

Main Responsibilities :

Volunteer Engagement & Retention

Effectively engage volunteers to contribute in meaningful ways that build organizational capacity to support mission.

Implement recognition practices to retain and motivate volunteers.

Gather and share volunteer feedback to improve the volunteer experience.

Volunteer Recruitment & Cultivation

Identify, recruit, and match mission volunteers to priority roles in alignment with Society strategy.

Build pipelines of volunteer talent, ensuring diversity and inclusion.

Volunteer Training & Support

Provide orientation, resources, and support to volunteers, ensuring role clarity and confidence.

Act as a local point of contact and relationship manager for mission volunteers in assigned region.

Collaboration & Integration

Partner with staff colleagues across community programs, advocacy, and fundraising to integrate volunteers into priority initiatives.

Support execution of regional events, programs, and outreach through volunteer leadership.

What We're Looking For :

2-4 years of volunteer coordination or nonprofit program delivery experience.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, or related field.

Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.

Enthusiasm for working with diverse volunteers and communities.

Preferred but not required qualifications :

Bilingual in Spanish

Location Requirement :

This is a market-based role supporting our Southwest Region. The position requires regular, in-person attendance at meetings, constituent interactions, and events as well as travel as required and necessary up to approximately 50% of the work time. During the remaining time, work is primarily conducted remotely from either a home office or a National MS Society workspace (Society workspace not provided in all geographies).

Preferred Southwest states are as follows : Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah

Compensation | Benefits :

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 . Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.

In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), roles classified as exempt must meet applicable salary thresholds. As such, final offers may exceed the stated range to ensure compliance with federal and state exemption requirements.
