About The Role And Team

The Consumer Pricing and Incentives team is central to the economics of Uber Delivery, directly influencing how we balance customer demand with merchant and courier profitability. You'll architect mission-critical systems that execute hundreds of millions of daily pricing and incentives decisions for products like Uber Eats and Uber Grocery, solving for speed, accuracy, and fairness at a massive, global scale.

This is a role for a proven technical leader who thrives on ambiguity and extreme complexity at scale. You will navigate high-stakes trade-offs between business goals, low latency, and system reliability under immense pressure, defining the technical roadmap for a domain that directly affects Uber's bottom line. Your deep, high-leverage technical contributions here will directly shape the entire business trajectory for one of Uber's fastest-growing segments.

What You'll Do

• Define and evolve the multi-quarter technical vision for our global pricing and incentive systems, making critical trade-offs between immediate business needs and long-term architectural integrity at the Senior Staff level.
• Lead the design and review of highly-scalable, reliable, and low-latency distributed systems that manage hundreds of millions of transactions, ensuring performance and stability under Uber's massive real-time load.
• Act as a force multiplier by providing technical mentorship and raising the engineering bar for senior and staff-level engineers across multiple teams, building a culture of ownership and urgency (Go boldly together).
• Drive consensus and influence technical direction across cross-functional partners in Product, Data Science, and Operations, translating ambiguous business problems into concrete, well-scoped technical programs (One Uber).
• Solve the most complex production challenges (e.g., latency spikes, data inconsistencies) with an owner's mindset, leading debugging efforts and defining resilient frameworks to prevent future high-stakes failures (Grit / Conscientiousness).

Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green‑light hubs, employees are expected to be in‑office for 100% of their time. Base salary for this role is USD $257,000 per year – USD $285,500 per year for US locations. Eligible for Uber's bonus program, equity award, and other types of compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at Uber Careers Benefits .
