Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator drives, maneuvers, or controls light to heavy equipment used to construct and maintain roads, bridges, and right-of-way. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We Require:

• One year of experience operating trucks and equipment
• High school diploma or GED
• Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement

We Also Value:

• Two or more years of transportation construction or roadway maintenance experience

Job Contributions:

• Operate a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
• Haul materials and transport vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks
• Perform manual labor assignments as needed
• Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identify and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair
• Complete required daily logs and prepare reports; attend safety meetings
• Complete daily written reports and enter information into the Cartegraph asset management system
• Perform traffic control activities as needed; report safety hazards and traffic problems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 - 100 pounds frequently, or up to 20 - 50 pounds constantly
• Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
• Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware:

• Commercial motor vehicles and various construction equipment, including but not limited to water trucks, dump trucks, skid steers, sweepers, Broce brooms, trailers, and hand tools
• Protective Equipment Required: Hard hat, gloves, eye protection, and steel-toed boots
