Medical Assistant

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Responsibilities include :

• Obtaining patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and preparing the patient for a physical exam
• Explaining prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensuring all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Drawing blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and / or in-house processing
• Performing laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Responding to all lab messages and call back requests
• Performing all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensuring patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conducting physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Preparing exam rooms; sterilizing instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintaining complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications include :

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
