Shift Options: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist II to join a leading healthcare facility in Austin, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surgical professional to play a key role in the operating room, supporting surgeons and clinical teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in sterile technique, and experienced in assisting with a variety of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the operating room according to the surgical procedure and patient needs.

• Ensure all surgical instruments, implants, prostheses, medications, and supplies are properly prepared and available.

• Maintain a sterile field and apply sterile technique throughout surgical procedures.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to ensure efficient workflow during operations.

• Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments according to established policies and procedures.

• Assist with the proper handling, labeling, and transport of surgical specimens.

• Set up back tables and arrange surgical instruments and supplies based on the procedure and surgeon preference cards.

• Scrub, gown, and glove according to operating room protocols and recommended practices.

• Assist in the cleaning, inspection, and proper care of surgical instruments and equipment.

• Operate sterilization equipment and follow established sterilization and infection control standards.

• Support department efficiency by following procedures for processing sterile and contaminated instruments.

• Participate in continuing education and training to maintain clinical competency.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program or military surgical training program (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or U.S. Public Health Service).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist with experience in two or more surgical specialties.

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or certification through the National Center for Competency Testing.

• Knowledge of sterilization systems including steam, EO, and low-temperature sterilization methods.

• Experience with washer/disinfector operations, ultrasonic cleaners, and biological and chemical indicator testing.

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
