Description :
Responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care.
The Registered Nurse, in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, assesses, implements, evaluates, and coordinates all patient care activities, as appropriate to the age of the patients served and areas of practice.
The role includes working with doctors and technicians in the preparation of patients for and in the performance of interventional procedures.
Performs assessment / data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive, and cultural diversity of the patient.
Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes.
Provides written assessment of the patient upon admission and subsequently, based on patient need.
Formulates a goal-directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes, and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses / patient care and outcomes.
Collaborates as appropriate with physicians and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs.
Implements the plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
Intervenes with proper technique, procedure, and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families.
Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient / family needs.
Evaluates and documents patient response to and the outcome of care provided and revises the plan of care accordingly.
Maintains constant vigilance over patient care to ensure that safety precautions / needs are followed.
Participates in performance improvement activities for the hospital and unit / service.
Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
Demonstrates the ability to measure the effectiveness of care provided and documents the same.
Collaborates with other care team members in planning and carrying out the treatment regimen; provides direction to other members of the care team.
Performs preventive skin measures.
Correctly identifies medication and administers and documents medication correctly.
Educates patients and family members prior to the procedure.
Provides post-procedure care.
Performs other duties as required.
Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and bending.
May include some repetitive motions.
