Title : Senior Data Engineer – Groovy, SQL, Financial

Salary : $105-115K + Bonus
Job Type : Full-Time | Exempt

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, own deliverables end to end, prioritize workload effectively, and thrive in a dynamic environment. This individual must also work well under pressure to meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines within short time constraints.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize ETL / ELT pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable data ingestion and integration from diverse sources.
- Analyze, organize, and transform raw and structured data to support data modeling efforts, reporting, and business insights.
- Explore, implement, and refine methods to improve data quality, reliability, and overall system performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data discrepancies, quality issues, and pipeline failures to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Identify architectural bottlenecks, optimize system performance, and contribute to long-term platform scalability.
- Work with Product Managers and Business Analysts to understand functional requirements and interact with other cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test, and release features.
- Build and prototype algorithms and analytical tools to support complex data analysis and automation.
- Design and support cloud-native data workflows, including logging, monitoring, and working with storage buckets and other cloud services.
- Collaborate closely with BI Engineers, Finance teams, and cross-functional partners across global offices to deliver efficient, robust, and scalable data solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (e.g., JIRA), ensuring accuracy and clarity across development activities.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and help advance engineering best practices.
- Support on-call responsibilities as needed to address urgent system issues and maintain platform availability.
- Create and maintain existing documentation (configuration, test scripts, functional specs for reporting, and integration).
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development of business processes.
- Demonstrate an open-minded and collaborative approach to creating innovative technical solutions.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other team members and early adopters of the platform.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technical discipline.4+ years of experience with advanced SQL Knowledge (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).4+ years of experience with Java or Groovy languages.3+ years of experience interacting with web service APIs (SOAP, REST).2+ years of experience with DBT.2+ years of data modeling experience.Knowledge of modern data platforms including how to design, scale and optimize data systems. Must understand distributed processing, storage strategies and performance considerations.Knowledge of Snowflake Analytics Platform is a plus.Experience in working within an Agile environment.Knowledge of GIT, Jenkins (CI).Experience with Automation, including Unit and Integration Testing.Knowledge of Cloud Concepts.Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative, and be a logical thinker.Extensive consultative skills, including understanding and applying customer requirements, drawing out unforeseen implications, and making design recommendations.The ability to define design reasoning and understand potential impacts of design requirements.Strong collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills.Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
