Position SummaryThe Director of Information Technology is responsible for leading the bank’s technology strategy, modernization efforts, and digital transformation initiatives. In a rapidly changing environment, this role will guide the bank from traditional processes to a fully modern, efficient, and secure technology infrastructure capable of supporting advanced digital banking services. The Director of IT oversees systems architecture, cybersecurity, core processing platforms, vendor partnerships, and technology compliance while ensuring seamless, reliable, and secure operations across all departments. This position plays a crucial leadership role in shaping the bank’s future through innovation, process automation, and forward-thinking technology adoption.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of core banking platforms, digital banking systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and FFIEC / GLBA regulatory requirements preferred.
- Demonstrated experience driving organization-wide technology transformations.
- Experience with IT budgeting, vendor management, and strategic planning.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP, CEH, or similar are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities Technology Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap transitioning the bank from paper-based processes to fully automated, digital workflows.Evaluate and implement new systems, platforms, and tools that improve efficiency, customer experience, and operational scalability.Lead strategic initiatives in digital banking, mobile banking, online account opening, remote deposit, and emerging fintech partnerships.Infrastructure & Operations Management
Oversee the design, maintenance, and modernization of the bank’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, telecommunications, and hardware.Ensure high system uptime, rapid support response, and strong change-management processes.Manage IT budgeting, procurement, and asset lifecycle management.Cybersecurity & Regulatory Compliance
Oversee cybersecurity programs, intrusion detection, access management, and incident response plans.Ensure all systems and processes comply with FFIEC guidance, GLBA, information security requirements, and bank regulatory expectations.Lead annual IT risk assessments, audits, disaster recovery planning, and penetration testing initiatives.Maintain the bank’s Information Security Program and present findings to executive leadership and / or the Board as needed.Vendor Management & Core Banking Optimization
Manage all technology vendors, including the bank’s core processor, digital banking providers, cybersecurity partners, and IT consultants.Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts that support long-term bank efficiency and growth.Optimize existing core banking systems and lead the implementation of new modules or major system upgrades.Innovation, Automation & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows across all departments (operations, lending, accounting, retail, etc.)Implement tools and solutions that streamline processes, reduce error rates, and increase productivity.Champion adoption of new technology through training, communication, and change leadership.Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and develop IT staff, including Network Support Specialists and outsourced IT partners.Partner closely with all department heads to understand technology needs and deliver efficient, secure solutions.Serve as an ambassador for the bank’s values, reinforcing a culture of excellence, innovation, and team-development.Competencies
