Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Manager is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Laboratory Department and directly managing a team of Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Lab Assistants. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality lab services throughout the system, strict adherence to regulatory standards, and efficient workload management. The Manager plays a key role in supervising, administering, and achieving the operational goals and objectives for the lab team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all day-to-day operations of the Laboratory, ensuring smooth, efficient, and accurate testing processes.

• Directly manage, mentor, and lead a team of CLS staff and Lab Assistants, ensuring proper workload distribution and team adherence to established protocols.

• Ensure full compliance with institutional policies, industry standards, and federal requirements, including regulations from TJC, DHS, and CLIA 88.

• Apply a deep understanding of the underlying scientific principles, technical, and procedural aspects of laboratory testing.

• Maintain a general comprehension of the physiology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and genetic factors affecting health and disease in relation to laboratory results.

• Oversee management, financial, human resource, and regulatory functions as they pertain to the laboratory department.

Education & Experience (Required)

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in a related field.

• Three years of clinical experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).

• Minimum three years of leadership experience in a Laboratory setting.

Education & Experience (Preferred)

• Master's degree in a related field.

• Leadership experience in an acute care setting.

• Mid-Senior seniority level.

Certifications/Licenses

• California Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS), meeting all education requirements set by the State of California, DHS, Laboratory Field Services.

Key Skills
