Corporate M&A - Associate / Counsel (2+ yrs; 7+ yrs) - Sophisticated Midsize Law Firm

Our client, a collegial law firm with Midwest roots, is actively seeking corporate M&A attorneys to join its Chicago office in associate and / or counsel roles (title depending on level of experience). This firm’s full‑service M&A practice works closely with attorneys across other practices, including tax, executive comp / employee benefits, finance, IP and restructuring, and assists clients with every stage of the process, including crafting transactions, conducting due diligence, securing financing, negotiating terms and documenting results.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel clients across a range of industries on corporate matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions
  • Handle due diligence support and provide general business counseling and legal guidance
  • Draft and review contracts and prepare corporate documents such as purchase agreements, disclosure schedules, operating / shareholder agreements, and related transaction documents

    • Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of corporate transactional experience, including strong M&A experience
  • Experience with private equity and / or private company transactions preferred
  • If a more senior associate, an interest in business development is preferred
  • Strong academic credentials and drafting skills

    Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

    Compensation

    The anticipated base salary range for this position is $190,000+ (compensation will be higher at Counsel level).
