Schedule Details : Nights, 8 and 12-hour shifts, rotating every third weekend and holiday.

Unit Overview :

Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit caring for a diverse and complex patient demographic, including :

Post-operative patients from craniotomies and tumor resections.

Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery patients.

Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients under our Comprehensive Stroke Program.

A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases.

As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , enjoy exposure to cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques and advanced patient care.

Deliver and coordinate evidence-based patient care using the nursing process.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee safe and compassionate care.

Utilize clinical judgment and critical thinking for optimal patient outcomes.

Major Responsibilities :

Assess patient needs, formulate individualized care plans, and evaluate care effectiveness.

Implement patient safety strategies and individualize learning approaches for patients and families.

Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach and apply evidence-based practice.

Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required :

Completion of an accredited or approved Nursing program.

Experience Required :

Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family needs.

Capable of recognizing changes that require timely interventions.

Proficient computer skills, including electronic medical records.

Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

Able to build rapport and maintain professional relationships.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., lift 20 lbs. overhead, and carry 40 lbs.

Must execute moving and transferring patients safely.

Position may expose you to chemicals, waste, and infectious materials; protective gear will be provided.

Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch for performing patient care procedures.
