Childbirth Education Instructor

Under general supervision, provides formal and informal instruction for consumers of maternity care, participates in program development and evaluation; serves as a facilitator; teacher, OB tour guide and resource person for clients and Medical Center personnel in area of parent education.

Education :

Experience in Health Education or related field. Completion or certification in a course related specialty or Active Nursing Student enrolled in a nursing program.

Experience :

1 year related teaching experience in Childbirth Education and / or Birth or Postpartum Doula Certification with a strong history of presentation in education or active nursing student enrolled in an ongoing education program that includes education and presentation experience

Licensures, Certifications :

Current Certification as a Childbirth Educator / Doula / Medical professional with a documented teaching history and strong knowledge of newborn care, childbirth and postpartum recovery, preferred

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift and push up to 25 lbs.

On occasion, set up and break down rooms for classes including moving tables and chairs

Ability to set up and professionals present a light continental breakfast for the GBMC Weekender and Born Free classes with the use of gloves when handling food preparation

Working Conditions :

Works in classroom or office with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature

Ability to stand and walk up to eighty percent of work time in conducting classes

Skills :

• Knowledge of maternity principles and care
• Working knowledge of audiovisual equipment
• Skill in developing sound educational programs
• Ability to effectively communicate about controversial issues with maternity care clients and health care providers
• Ability to analyze and assess client learning needs in large group and individual situations and adapt course objectives, teaching strategies and methodologies accordingly
• Ability to facilitate learning through creation of a milieu that is caring, non-threatening and knowledgeable

Pay Range

$21.27 - $36.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
