Job Title : Head of Accounts Payable

Job Summary :
We are on the lookout for a strategic and accomplished Head of Accounts Payable to lead our accounts payable operations with expertise and precision. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of the complete accounts payable process, ensuring compliance with our internal controls and regulatory standards. You will drive initiatives for automation and efficiency while providing strong leadership to an exceptional team. The right candidate will possess extensive experience in managing AP functions within a high-volume setting and demonstrate skills in operational execution and team development.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Strategy :
- Lead and mentor the Accounts Payable team, focusing on development and performance evaluation.
- Design and roll out scalable AP processes, policies, and controls to facilitate growth.
- Collaborate effectively with Merchandising, Logistics, IT, Accounting, and other departments to enhance procure-to-pay workflows.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess performance, pinpoint issues, and promote continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight :
Ensure timely and precise processing of all vendor invoices, payments (check, ACH, wire), and employee expense reimbursements.Manage corporate credit card programs and ensure reconciliation and adherence to compliance standards.Oversee appropriate AP accruals during month-end close and assist in financial reporting.Nurture and manage vendor relationships, addressing payment disputes and negotiating favorable terms.Compliance & Controls :
Guarantee adherence to internal policies, controls, and external regulations (e.g., 1099, sales / use tax).Lead AP-related audits and coordinate the documentation for both internal reviews and external auditors.Maintain accurate vendor records and supervise the vendor onboarding process.Systems & Automation :
Promote AP automation initiatives, including the implementation of invoice workflow tools, ERP enhancements, and payment platforms.Work closely with IT and system administrators to facilitate AP-related technology upgrades.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.8-10+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable or financial operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance standards.Experience with ERP systems and AP automation solutions.Proven ability to lead teams, implement change, and enhance processes.Preferred Skills :
