Job Summary
The Assistant Manager provides guidance, direction and leadership to Sterile Processing staff to deliver quality service to departments in providing patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation reprocessing functions including collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection and distribution. Ensuring quality, productivity, and labor efficiency; and assisting department manager in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives. Serves as subject matter expert and resource for product reprocessing and ensures compliance with departmental budget. Models' excellence in customer service, ensuring the highest standards for both internal and external constituent satisfaction.

A Base Certification from either CRCST from Healthcare Sterile Processing (HSPA) or from CSPDT from The Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Department Overview
Sterile Processing is a department within Perioperative Services that supports 40 plus operating rooms by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing surgical instrumentation, flexible scope and case cart assembly. The Sterile Processing unit also supports Patient Care Services. Ambulatory Services and the Primary Care Network : within the health system by cleaning, disinfecting reusable equipment and the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of surgical instrumentation used by these services. Sterile Processing cleans and restocks all emergency crash carts; PAPR supply cart, airway boxes and ICU transport bags. The Sterile Processing Unit manages fiscal, material, and human resources to support the planning and coordination of surgical care and other patient care in the hospital and clinics.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Works overtime, floats to other areas within Perioperative Services, availability to work weekends, holidays, and meet departmental staffing needs. Required meets on-call commitments evenings, weekends and holidays. Must see well enough to read charts and instructions. Must have the ability and fine motor dexterity to operate equipment, computers, keyboard, and mouse. Ability to comprehend and read the standard written English. Hear and speak well enough to communicate with others directly and over the phone. Must be able to work with adaptability, flexibility & maintain composure during stressful and / or adverse conditions. May be assigned to work at any Periop Sterile Processing to meet operational needs. May need to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.
