Reports to Title Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary

The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift / reach truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments. Performs a combination of tasks including but not limited to receiving, filling, shipping, and inspecting orders accurately and in a timely manner; efficiently and safely loads, unloads, and conveys materials. Various levels of skill are indicated below.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
• Obtains production schedule and / or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
• Applies to the understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
• Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
• Reports any problems with materials or transportation to the supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

Work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Must be able to lift 40lb wooden skid or pallet and have the ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
